Before applying changes to your lifestyle, it is important to have an understanding of your changing hormones during the 28 day cycle.
Follicular Phase (7-10 days)
This phase begins the day after your period ends and lasts up until ovulation. During the beginning of the follicular the concentration of our hormones are at their lowest, they slowly rise as we move into ovulation (particularly estrogen). This causes the uterus lining to thicken and encourages the body to ovulate.
What does that mean - this phase is a time of new beginnings. new ideas flow naturally, our energy levels are rising and we are fuelled with a fresh dose of motivation, excitement , inspiration and creativity.
Ovulatory Phase (3-4 days )
During the Ovulatory phase there is high highest concentration of hormones and our fertility is at its peak.
What does that mean - we feels confident, beautiful, social and flirtatious due to the high levels of estrogen in the body. This is the time we are most likely to have glowing skin, good hair days and self confidence.
luteal Phase (10-14 days)
This is the longest phase of our cycle and begins just as ovulation finishes. during the first half of the luteal phase levels of estrogen and progesterone are high, however the hormone progesterone should be dominant. The uterus lining is shedding, and going into the second half of this phase we begin to lose some of that ovulation clarity as a result of decreasing hormones.
What does that mean - When in this phase, our brain is able to notice details and focus on analytics that usually go unnoticed. This is the time to get things done and complete projects. As our hormones decline during the second half of the luteal phase leading up to menstruation we begin to feel more introverted and tired.
menstrual Phase (3-7 days)
This is the time where we bleed! it is the phase we are most familiar with, our hormones are at and all time low and it is important to give our body rest and nourishment.
What does that mean - we are most intuitive during this phase, the extreme decline in hormones creates a strong connection between the right and left side of the brain and as a result we find our selves to be more in touch with the inner guidance and emotions during this phase.
